Day 24 – Late nights cause hard mornings.

Day 24 – Late nights cause hard mornings.

A piece of advice/information, use it don’t use it; after having a really late night on a Thursday an early Friday morning doesn’t work too well.  We discovered and rediscovered that this morning.

Due to the fact mentioned above we were all really tired today and that lead to a quiet day… well outside of the office life that is.  Because as it goes, the day that you are tired would translate into an insane day of work right…

Anyway we got home, had a something to eat and then got into bed as early-ish.

Day 23 – 12 years and counting.

Day 23 – 12 years and counting.

Today was the celebration of the 12th birthday of the company that we are visiting in Pune.  We were not exactly too sure what to expect, so we went as comfortable and open minded as possible.  After almost 1 hour of driving we finally reached the spot where the party was held.
The place was amazingly beautiful.  And everyone was in the mood for a good party.  One of the guys told us that they prefer a Western party because they have the Indian life everyday…  We didn’t complain at all.

The office party:
The speeches started.  There were four people in the crowd that felt completely lost, pretty much, the entire time.  Those four people were Hein, Kaishni, Lourens and I…  The speeches were all in Hindi and Mahratti, I think there might have been another language or two, but I am pretty sure English and Afrikaans were not one of them.  Then at some point they realised that there were 4 South Africans in the room and the fun started.  The MC of the party asked us to come to the front…  Yes and that is exactly when the night got interesting; he asked us to do an enactment of a Bollywood movie.  Now I am not sure which movie it was (it could have been all of them mixed together).  Hein, Lourens and I had to try and get Kaishni’s attention while she had to try as hard as possible to ignore us.  Lourens won at the end with his awesome “Lay on the beach with a smile” move.  Shortly after the “SA-Bollywood” moment they had a “who has the most spikey hair” contest.  I am proud to say that South Africa took the gold medal there (yes I was the participant).
So eventually the speeches and jokes were done and that is when the real fun started.  Now as far as I know Indians are pretty famous for their love of dancing, and sure as life they showed it on the dance floor.  I think we danced for about an hour then we took a quick dinner break before heading back.  We eventually left the party venue at around 1am…

Our ride home was a bit more interesting, we had to make two trips because there was only one car left and we were 7 people.  The guy that took us home (Ashish) drives a Ford Figo this caused a feeling of nostalgia for me… I miss groenie.

When we got home we had a relaxing coffee break before hitting the hay.  This is when we noticed (and sorry for the sensitive readers) that Gert had passed away.  Sorry Julle.

PS...  Happy Birthday to our friends at the India office! and "Many happy returns."

Day 22 - Nope... not so too much

Day 22 - Nope... not so too much

Another awesomely quiet day.  That is why you waited so long for this one… I had to try and figure something out.  I think the most noteworthy thing that happened was the fact that we woke up on time.

Day 21 – Cheerz for now number 5.

Day 21 – Cheerz for now number 5.

We had to say goodbye to the 5th member of team South Africa today.  It was quite a battle to keep Lourens from jumping into Mark’s suitcase.  Sorry Lourens, we know you miss the wife and kiddies, but you are stuck with us for a few more days.

So last night we heard about the band that will be playing at the Hard Rock Café next Saturday:  Poets of the fall.  They are a rock band form Finland. I must admit I never heard them, or of them, before last night.  So we did some research and then got our hands on their latest album Temple of Thought.  After listening to only the first 3 songs of the album we (Hein, Kaishni and I) fell in love with their music.  So guess where we are going on Saturday? (No guesses needed right)
Poets of the fall will be the first international band I see live.  I’ve been to quite a few local shows in South Africa, but don’t worry guys; I will not be taking notes to compare the hometown guys to the Finnish guys (ons weet in elk geval wie sal wen).

Dinner once again was some pizza.  Well done gang I think we are converting Lourens to the “junk food” culture.
Also we decided today that prices regarding PS remotes in SA are really, really sad in comparison to the prices in both India and Dubai.
That was about the day, we will all be going to bed with POTF songs in our ears tonight.

Day 20 – a Softer Hard Rock

Day 20 – a Softer Hard Rock

Well, let’s skip the part where I tell you Mondays aren’t fun.  This one was!  We started the day off on a dullish note but as the day progressed it got a ton better.

Let’s start with a story shall we…  Kaishni forgot that we are in the month of August, nothing special to that; I would just like to mention it.  She was hoping that we could still be in July… nope sorry Kaishni we are in August and we are in India for the entire August.  So there we were sitting and enjoying a cup of tea on the balcony when suddenly (insert dramatic pause here) …
A woman broke the door off of a microwave!  Well played microwave-lady, well played.  After the pulses slowed down we decided that lunch would be the perfect next step.  This was perfect because there was some lunch in the meeting room that is known as “Mark’s office”.  While having lunch we made a new friend, his name is Gerbrecht he is a fast moving little guy, perfect for travel convenience… also he is an actual mouse.  He provided us with some laughs cause Kaishni (again) got quite the fright when she saw the little critter.

The day at the office ended and then came the good part…  Hard Rock Café.  We wanted to go and show Mark what was happening there.  After all the stories we have been telling him, I think his expectations were pretty high.  Here I should emphasise that we have been punting the good music and good food since the first day of his arrival.  The food made the cut, it was even better than we said… but the music sounded a little more like the Soft Rock Café.  But after asking around we heard that it was due to the fact that most people don’t really want to rock very hard on a Monday.  We enjoyed it nonetheless and of course I had to have they Legendary 10 oz Burger, which sounded a lot more impressive before we heard that it was only a 284 gram burger… but awesome tasting regardless.

I also got a cool piece of “Hard Rock Café Merchandise”.  I just got something small so see the attached picture.  But I will be getting a cool shirt and a nice pin before I go back home.

After the meal we were standing outside waiting for our driver to pick us up when we found Gert’s cousin.  So you would remember Gert, our pet spider at the apartment, his cousin Johan is about double his size and also his web was about 8 times bigger than the web of Gert.

Well that was the day.
